Food Poisoning.

I get an SMS while I was in Jakarta this past weekend.  Basically, it was my friend, Yen, who happened to be staying at the same hotel that I was, last week.  He saw me walk by the restaurant.  Small world.

Anyway, we decide to grab a late dinner, before his red-eye flight back to HK.  We meet at the restaurant on the bottom floor of the Shangri-La.  Apparently, there's a seafood buffet promo, and we decided to go for it.

He eats the seafood.  I don't.  He gets hit with crazy food poisoning, and I'm fine...or at least I was until yesterday.

I fly back on Saturday afternoon, and instead of going home and trying to recover during the weekend before my next flight out on Tuesday, I decide to take a ferry straight to...Macau.  It was a last-minute trip - just to hang out with a friend, play a little blackjack and "unwind".

Long story short, we head back home from Macau on the 6 am ferry to HK, and I am not feeling good.  Long flight from Jakarta, then straight on a ferry - staying up all night in Macau and ending with a ferry ride back to HK...I'm too old for this.

Anyway, we decide to go on Superclass for the ferry ride home...all that entitles us is a reclining seat, a free meal, and quicker exit to go through immigration.  My friend swears by the hotdog they serve on the ferry...and so, being the lemming that I am when it comes to food, I go for it.

...and I get food poisoning.  And I have to fly out tomorrow and I still don't feel good.

No more Macau for awhile.  Curse you, pink meats...

Day 2 + 3

So, I didn't enter anything the past couple of days.  My bad.

I travel...a lot.  I'm on the road, all the time.  I'm in Jakarta now, writing this, and will be flying back home this afternoon.  Then on Tuesday, I'm off to Tokyo.  Then I can look forward to another trip to Seoul, and again to Tokyo, all before the end of this month.

How am I supposed to try and change in the next 90 days??

Anyway, here's what I've been doing - food has been centered around low-carbs, and high protein.  I've tried to add more veg and fruit.

For exercise, I haven't done much, which is killing me.  I actually FORGOT to bring running shoes, shorts and t-shirt.  My workout kit.  Next time, won't forget - and I plan to bring my jumprope as well.

Although I'm on Day 4, I'm trying not to beat myself up about the very poor, slow progress I've gone through so far.  In the past - I'd have just justified eating a lot by telling myself that I'd go work it off later in HK tomorrow...but I think that's a bad habit I need to break.  I keep hearing lifestyle change, and although I know what that meant, I never "embraced" it, and just accepted my lifestyle as good enough.  wrong.

Today, I'm going to try and do something active (considering I can't really work out) and try and stick to a healthier diet plan.  I've been doing ok with the diet, but let's see how that goes.

Day One

So, I just got back from our church retreat yesterday...and after 4 days of having a great time with friends, my HC and other members of the SP community, I am tired.

And overweight.

During our retreat, we had a lot of free time to spend on our own.  Since the place we go to (Nansha Grand Hotel) is a Chinese resort (I say "Chinese" resort, because it's considered a nice resort-style hotel...for China.  But, it really isn't, compared to "Western" resorts), there are tennis-courts, volleyball nets to play, huge swimming pool and a large open field to play football (soccer).

I played football a couple of times, maybe swung the tennis racquet around...and now I'm in absolute pain.  My thighs...are still burning and it hurts to walk around as well.

I'm getting older...and my body's not getting any younger...

I've heard so much about PCP - and I think it's a great plan.  But I'm not a fan about spending $600 USD on a 3 months virtual-program.  However, I think there's plenty of merit, in regards to how it works, and I've seen the results -they do work.

So...I'm going to attempt to go on a 90-day journey towards being more healthy and active.

I've been "researching" and reading a lot about different diets, how they work - etc.  I'll try and explain what I'm doing, as I'm doing it...and hopefully, with a little bit of stumbling, experimenting, persistence and pain, the results will be "satisfactory" - haha.

I'm traveling to Jakarta tomorrow, and will be back on Saturday.  My next blog entry will be in Jakarta, and let's see how we do this thing.

I just want to kick a football again, without having to limp around the next day...that's all...
